Dovell 43 Custom race boat
High Anxiety III was designed by the highly regarded Dovell Naval architects and was a vision of Peter Hayes.
The hull is a full carbon wet layup with extra deep 3m draught keel built in 2014. The deck was off a top ranked Farr 40 that has been modified and lengthened to an overall 43 footer. Along with the Southern Spars carbon mast that was built in 2011 which appears to be as good as new.
Similarly the Yanmar engine is in very good condition having been overhauled during the build process.
She is fitted with B & G instruments with 5 x 20/20 repeaters on the mast.
Peter's vision was to sit with a top designer and launch a fast offshore raceboat that could compete and rate in blue water races including the Syd- Hobart but also be an easy to sail club racer. It was a project that didn't quite get finished due to interstate work committments. Only the minor touches like fitting a stove, sink and pipe cots plus additional safety gear are required to see it through.
The boat comes with a large sail wardrobe including a new carbon square top mainsail from Onesail, another inshore main new by Scooter sails as well as 7 headsails and 4 spinnakers.
There is a pallet of extra gear including spare winches, rudder, chart table, dehumidifier, running rigging and 3 spinnaker poles.
She is always berthed at RPAYC under a full boat cover and was antifouled in March 2018.
